As an Interior Designer and environmentalist, Gloria Van Dusen loves working with textiles. The fabric samples, cut swatches, and memos are a part of her everyday life in her career. So many samples are unusable for anything beyond the approval phase with the client, and most are dropped or discontinued from the mills or manufacturers and get discarded. In an effort not to waste these small but otherwise beautiful and luxurious textiles out, it occurred to her that she could make something unique, exquisite, and green.

First, she began color coding the samples and collected a library of discontinued and discarded samples. One she had her stock pile, she designed a custom pillow for one of her clients, and it was a huge success. Her client was overjoyed with how well one accessory could finish off the room. After this she designed a kid comforter, Christmas tree skirts and Hanukkah table runners were developed. The creativity continued to flow throughout other projects leading to fashion cuffs, window treatments, and market totes.

boHEM Threads was born. Now this is a collection of custom home and fashion accessories made from the samples of various high-end fabrics, leathers, trims, and ribbons.
